To the Rescue!
Hurricane Irene has come and gone, and as predicted, Redding got hit with some big winds and rain. LOTS of trees down, including a big one across the driveway (although not where I would normally be parked when visiting) and several on the road. I would still be stuck there if Alan hadn’t put me away safely. There hasn’t been any electric power in the whole town since Sat evening, and it looks like that will be the case for a week or longer. So on Monday morning I came to the rescue! Alan came and got me and off we went to encamp at the beautiful exit 2 rest area on Rt 84 near the NY/Conn border. It’s close enough to the stick house to keep an eye on things and regroup while waiting for the electric power to be restored. Alan is able to work thanks to the new Cloud based server! (http:// www.aspcpa.com) and we even hosted an impromptu dinner Wednesday evening on my roof deck for our friends Julio and Shelly. Jay also came up to dine with us.
Seems strange, but Alan and Bev seem to like it here- I hear talk of no parking fees, no real estate taxes, free water and sanitary dump station, free daily trash pickup……and I even got weighed for free at the state weigh station located here!
Bev got to talking with the owners of a nice American Eagle coach, who stopped by to fill their water tanks and empty thier waste tanks. It turns out that they were from nearby Newtown, and have rented space on the same street as we have for next winter at the Great Outdoors in Titusville Fl. Talk about a small world!
So, despite the spacious accommodations, we decide to move on to the Jersey shore a day early. We pack up, wash my windshield, empty the tanks, and hit the road by Thursday noon.
