Suprise Trip.

Some great weather motivated Alan to make surprise plans for another short weekend trip. This time to Mystic Ct- a mere 60 miles from my home base. We might even be able to get there without getting lost! From the web he picked a campground convenient to downtown Mystic. http://www.seaportcampground.com They have pull through sites for me, a pool for Bev, and nearby beaches for Alan and are pet friendly for Major. The idea was to spend a relaxing weekend and head home sometime Monday. Given the perfect weather it was a surprise that the campground wasn’t very full- maybe the fuel prices are to blame (Over $4.00 /gallon) or just the generally lousy economy (not to mention the new record breaking tax increases here in CT.) Anyway the sites are spacious and level with 50 amp service and water. No sewers but free pump outs after 4 days. Most have some shade, but enough open space so that everyone could enjoy breakfast and some sunbathing on my roof deck. The jeep tagged alone and got well used scouting out the nearby towns, beaches and potential activities. There sure is a LOT to do nearby. http://www.mystic.org/browse/what-to-do So, Sunday afternoon came along and after some discussion and checking availability, Bev made plans to stay for the week. A plus was the reduced daily rate ($35/day). The only downside was we had to move to another site as the next weekend was supposed to be a full house with some group rally taking place at the campground. No big deal, and I get to relax and see what other kinds of coaches arrive for the Rally. Bev will get to draw and paint and checkout the local sights and have me all to herself! Of course Alan and Major have to go home to man the office, but they will be back on Friday some time and will stay into Monday (Alan’s birthday!) I was pretty surprised on Sunday night when they locked my doors and left!! What was going on? I worried all night long. Too bad I didn't give them a curfew. And then, Monday morning Bev came back in that little red car all by herself. What was going on here? My air conditioners were humming because it was so hot. It was kind of nice because Bev stayed home with me and relaxed. She "Kindled" http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireless-Reader-Wifi-Graphite/dp/B002Y27P3M and swam in the pool. I thought this was going to be pretty good. Yeah, right. Got a rude awakening on Tuesday. She was gone all day!! http://www.stoningtonhistory.org/light.htm, http://www.oldemistickvillage.com/sec.aspx?id=5, http://www.grotonrec.com/esker.asp. The rest of the week was good; Bob and Elaine came to visit and then some nice people put their rig next to me. Bev worked on her colored pencil sketch and went swimming every day. It was really hot and sometimes one air conditioner or the other would not work (Alan better check my filters, "cough, cough") but the nights were cool and my mechanicals got a rest. On Friday Alan came back, bringing Major, and it was party time again.
