Finally have a realistic plan- or at least a name for it!
My delusional owners were thinking that they were full timer wannabes- and when some magic date rolled around (sometime after “independence day” (that’s another whole story) ie: July 4, 2012, they thought that full timing was going to happen. In reality, with the depressed real estate market, it looks like it will be a while before they can liberate themselves from the sticks and mortar house– and will end up with much fewer traveling bucks when/if they are able to sell. The short weekend/week long getaways are fun, but I really need more exercise than a few short trips each summer followed by a long hibernation. They want to expand the itinerary, so, that will mean more time together- but not 24/7, 365! What we have is a compromise- and unlike what Congress usually does, it’s a good compromise. The new more realistic plan is called “Extended Travel”. That’s loosely defined as one to three months travel at a time. Could be a day or two at once place and then move on, or maybe a month or longer at one spot, and then when the mood hits, just roll on to the next adventure. Then back to the home base for some concentrated work time to accumulate some travel money and hit the road again. Sounds like it might get addicting!
