NOT a happy camper...

So we leave NH for the quick drive to CT.  Once we get there the temps fall in the 30s.  Alan goes to the turn on the heat and thermostat is dead/ totally non responsive.  With some  phone help from Airstream he locates the circuit board and fuse (on the roof a/c of all places!) Everything checks out fine.  He empties the cabinet under the sink and checks out the wiring to the thermostat and can't find anything to solve the problem.   He concludes the wire to the thermostat must have been damaged somewhere during the  kitchen renovation.  He then abandons me for a bedroom in his friends Jim's house where we are parked for a few days.

Moving down the road a few miles to Stamford to work for the  next week or so,  we stop at Walmart (where else?)  for a heavy duty yellow extension cord and ceramic heater. Once we get to our destination in Shippan Point  he plugs it into a landline circuit so that I get enough heat to keep my pipes from freezing- as the temps fall even lower for a few days. As before, Alan retreats to the house, leaving me in the cold.

On the bright side, the views over the water looking from Shippan all the way to Long Island  are fantastic.  Here's one mornings sunrise.

As the week winds down the temps rise a little and Alan hangs out with me again. Then, in his first attempt to try out the new dishwasher- error codes!! After some trial and error he gets the codes cleared and tries again.  The cycle starts and half way through quits again.   Now he is NOT a happy camper.  Looks like our next trip is going back north to Nomad instead of south to Sunny Florida.  That's a few days time, a bunch of diesel fuel, and taking a chance on the Nov weather.  Not what we want to do.  So, one more try on the DW- empty out the half washed dishes, soak up the residual water, reset all the trays, clear the code again (unplug and effectively reboot), run the generator for the whole cycle and it works fine.  Was it a loading issue? pushing too many buttons? too little power?  We are not sure but its working, so we decide to head south.  Yes!  We make a service  appointment at our TGO home base RV repair facility " Eagles Pride" to address the thermostat issue.
